Back to School

September 1, 2011

Happy first day of September Knuckleheads! Kids everywhere are gearing up for back to school, and saying goodbye to summer. The Creative Play Plus blog recently posted with helpful tips on how to help your child avoid the first day of school jitters (read that here). But here at Knucklebones, we have some helpful tips on keeping a little bit of summer with you all year round – and avoiding the first day of school blues.

Encourage your child to play games outside after  school – Keep your children active and happy by having them play outside, instead of spacing out during afternoon cartoons. When the homework is done, send them outside and keep them running around. It’ll feel more like summer, even in the winter. Plus, they’ll be tired and ready for bed before you know it.

Make time for family activities – Its always easier to spend time with the family during the summer, but once school starts up, everyone gets lost in their own schedule. Make time for family activities, even if its just for a friendly game of Monopoly (Candy Land works too).

And finally,

Just keep playing!

After school activities, intramural games, adventure games, anything that keeps your child up and running will keep away the back to school blues. Your child works hard all day in school, they’ve earned a little summer time at the end of the day. And don’t forget, its always summer with Knucklbones.
